Accommodation for the Alpe d'Huez Triathlon: some advices according to your needs!

where to stay for the alpe d'huez triathlon 2018

Whether or not yet you’re registered in the Alpe d'Huez Triathlon, perhaps you have some practical questions about your stay in the heart of the Alps? This summer, you will spend a few memorable days in our mountains. On our site, we have prepared a selection of accommodation options, but if you feel a bit lost, here are some thoughts to help you make the main decision: do you have to stay at Alpe d'Huez, in the valley or on the outskirts of Lac EDF du Verney?

Why staying in the Alpe d'Huez resort?

The Alpe d'Huez station, recognized as one of the best ski resorts of the old continent, has exceptional infrastructures to spend summer holidays at the top. The diversity of the accommodation offer is amazing. In addition, activities for the whole family and shops of all kinds allow you to stay in the resort without getting bored for a second. To acclimatize to the altitude, of course, you won't find any better. Another advantage and not least: the proximity to the Expo Village of the Triathlon and the finish line, in the centre of the Alpe d'Huez.

What about the valley and Bourg d'Oisans?

If you feel like moving and exploring the region, you may prefer the Oisans Valley. Bourg d'Oisans is ideally placed to go on a tour of the surrounding mountains and their treasures. The small town has everything you need to set up your headquarters there. Camping enthusiasts will find their happiness there, at the bottom of the Alpe d'Huez ascent. It should be noted that Bourg d'Oisans welcomes the start of the duathlon as well as the whole loop of the first run.

So why you may choose the surroundings of Lac EDF du Verney?

The municipalities of Vaujany, Allemond and Oz en Oisans attract more and more triathletes, seduced by the tranquillity of this natural space in a green setting. If you would like to take advantage of your week to ride through some of the most beautiful passes in the Alps (La Croix de Fer, le Glandon...), this location is perfect. Of course, you will be on the banks of the Lac du Verney, the EDF hydroelectric dam (the most powerful in France) where the two triathlons L and M swim takes place. Very practical to get easily to the T1 park!

What about triathletes who come to prepare before the event?

This is a chance and an opportunity! If you decide to come and recognize the circuits of the Alpe d Huez Triathlon, don't hesitate: the hotel Le Pic Blanc **** (event partner) has prepared a special offer for the triathletes (apart from station events and according to availability). The establishment has all the services and facilities that triathletes usually need (possibility to keep their bikes in the room, specific sports meals on request, SPA with sauna, hammam, jacuzzi and massage services etc.).
