It meant a lot to us. A few days before the Triathlon EDF Alpe d'Huez, the organization is happy to announce the implementation of an exceptional plan to broadcast the 11th edition live! It is a significant improvement and effort. And it is probably the greatest innovation for this 2016 race version. Explanation. (photo : Christophe Guiard / Triathlete Magazine)
In association with the video platform DailyMotion of the group Canal+, and thanks to the technical exploit of the Group SAF-Hélicoptères, you will be able to follow the Long Distance Triathlon Live. "The Triathlon EDF Alpe d'Huez takes place in a relatively difficult to access environment, which, unfortunately, disconnects the public from the progress of the race, especially on the bike segment. We were really anxious to mend it for this year" –explains Cyrille Neveu, director of the race.
Concretely, the Triathlon will be diffused online via DailyMotion (a link is to be posted on the homepage of our website), but also on a big screen placed at the heart of the exhibition village. In order to do it, the technical set up is particularly complex and it is mainly supported by the use of a helicopter of the SAF-Hélicoptères, which will allow to generate incredible images and it will link, at the same time, with the control office situated in the station (some sequences will be emitted with a light gap). Approximately four hours of flight are scheduled! And numerous motorcycles will also follow the head of the race with cameras.
Finally, a crucial stage of this show will probably be the live coverage of the last four kilometers of the ascent of Alpe d'Huez, a dramatic moment in which the failure happens among the aspirants to the final victory.
Naturally, this broadcast –one of our craziest technical challenges since the origins of the event–, will depend on weather; sometimes brutal in our dear mountains.
