Why Triathlon Kids is so special and necessary

TIME Triathlon Alpe d'Huez kids 2019
Every year, the show is the same. The spirit of triathlon invades the resort on Wednesday afternoon, the climax of the 5-day TIME Triathlon Alpe d'Huez. No: it is not about duathlon or Triathlons L and M, but about Triathlon Kids, back on July 24th (from 2.30pm to 5.00pm)!

Initially proposed as additional entertainment for the Triathlon Festival, the event reserved to children has become a major event of the program. Open to children between 6 and 15 years old, the race attracts 300 children (maximum) each year, most of whom are there for their triathlon experience. Laurence Neveu, co-director of TIME Triathlon Alpe d'Huez, explains what is special about this race: "The Triathlon Kids immediately established itself as a unique event in our organization. Over the years, we have also realized that it is an excellent indicator. On the first level, its success shows us the good health of the discipline. Triathlon has a bright future! On the other hand, if we consider that the vast majority of participants have their mom or dad - or both - registered in the Triathlons or Duathlon, it means that families have fully understood the philosophy of the TIME Triathlon Alpe d'Huez : races for all, and each one his own legend !".

The Triathlon Kids is the only event of the week to take place entirely in the resort. Swimming in the Alpe d'Huez municipal pool (broadcast live via Facebook and on the giant screen in the Village Expo thanks to Alpe d'Huez TV) allows you to welcome a multitude of starting waves, never exceeding 20 participants. In a space secured and supervised by professionals, children discover the joys of transition. The simple and safe courses allow parents to easily follow the race and find their champions on the finish line, where spectators and other triathletes are usually numerous to support the younger ones. "Every year, we take this opportunity to use children as an example. They give it all they've got, they don't give up and they always have a positive attitude. For everyone, in the end, it's a return to the basics and the essential. The Triathlon is about going beyond yourself, but it must keep its playful character. This is also why we refuse to classify the children. The objective is simple and unique: to have fun," insists Laurence Neveu.

Although some of the race numbers are reserved to be available to triathletes during the event from July 22 to 26, don't wait until the last minute to register your child! There are already 140 people registered and in 2018, unfortunately, we were not able to welcome everyone.
